  1. Awake, ye souls that sleep in sin!
    Ye careless, lift your eyes
    And look around, above, within,
    And see if you are wise.
    • Refrain:
      Awake, awake, O sinner, rise,
      Upon the brink of woe;
      Thy soul in awful peril lies,
      Awake, ere lost below.
  2. What precious years you’ve slept away,
    Bid stupid sin depart;
    Obey the voice of God today,
    And harden not your heart.
  3. The voice of heaven calls, “Awake!”
    So near the awful deep;
    Behold thy precious soul at stake,
    Oh, will you longer sleep?
  4. Arise, ye dead in sin, arise!
    And Christ will give you light;
    He freely will forgive your sins,
    And wash your garments white.
  5. No pardons in the silent grave;
    Hope dieth at thy death;
    While Jesus waiteth long to save,
    Doom waits thy final breath.
